Historical Archaeology & Artifact Illustration
I received my PhD in the Department of Anthropology at Wayne State University. My dissertation is a multi-scalar, multi-sited historical archaeology of the citrus lime industry (ca. 1852-1928) in Montserrat. It serves as a case study for examining the socioeconomic and landscape transformations associated with post-emancipation shifts in agro-industries (Lesser Antilles).
My research has an emphasis on urban and colonial landscapes. I draw upon many topics including consumption, trade, health, and identity to inform my work in Detroit and in the Caribbean. |
As someone always drawn to both the arts and sciences, I have found my niche in archaeological illustration. With over 10 years of experience, I have produced graphics for grey literature, special finds, vessel reconstructions, museum display, and peer-reviewed publication. You can find some of my work on this website.
I've recently accepted a position at the Michigan State University Museum as the Archaeology Collections Manager. The position is jointly funded through MSU's Department of Anthropology. |
